KOMA BALLET
KOMA Ballet was born out of a deep-seated aspiration to provide young dancers with opportunities for professional growth, internship experience, and personal development. Our mission is to serve as a springboard for aspiring dancers, propelling them forward towards achieving excellence in their performance and trajectory within the field.
Established in 2022 through a collaboration between Danse Grunduddannelsen DGU and Royal Theater Ballet School Odense, KOMA Ballet is dedicated to guiding each aspirant along their unique artistic journey. We are committed to illuminating the path to their future.

At KOMA, we are committed to fostering excellence and growth in our dancers. Our approach places a strong emphasis on each individual dancer's journey, prioritizing their personal development. For that, we seek to collaborate closely with a diverse range of creators, offering our dancers exposure to various dance languages, techniques, and working methodologies, hoping this exposure equips them with the agility to adapt swiftly to different artistic contexts.
Our ultimate goal at KOMA is to cultivate dancers who are not only technically proficient but also poised to enter the professional field with confidence and readiness. We aim to co-create opportunities, and as a Young Danish Ensemble, we are dedicated to nurturing the future by investing in the next generation of talent.
Born in Odense
KOMA made a debut on the stage at the Odense Teater in March 2023 and since then has performed relevant works with artists who stand out on the national and international scene. KOMA aims to provide a unique opportunity for promising young artists in their first years of experience, providing full-time training at a high level with the technical and artistic tools for successful journey in the dance.
KOMA Ballet was created in 2022 in a collaboration between Basic Dance Training | DANSEGRUNDUDDANNELSEN and the Royal Theatre Odense Ballet School.
Meet The Team
KOMA has a direction that expands and diverse artistic vision that resonates with the international dance scene. Our ensemble consists of a cast selected by audition, ensuring standards of technical and artistic level. Each season, we handpick a maximum of 10 dancers, complemented by 2 interns. This select group rotates roles within our repertoire, enriching their experience and versatility while maintaining the dynamic quality of our performances.
Inge Fjord, the visionary forstander (principal) of Det Kongelige Teater Balletskolen Odense, is the inspired founder and enduring creative backbone of the institution - from its earliest conception to its flourishing present. A native of Odense, she returned to Denmark to be instrumental in launching the Odense branch of the Royal Ballet School, Since its inception, she has guided the school, evolving from a modest initiative with a handful of staff and just 15 budding students into a fully recognized cultural institution with over 100 enrollees in its foundational programs, including an accredited gymnasium-level education tailored for dancers.
Inge has fervently cultivated a learning environment where elite ballet training and holistic human development intersect, rooted in Danish "friskole" pedagogical values, prioritizing character, artistry, and community as much as technique. Her leadership has not only shaped the academic and artistic curriculum but has also elevated the institution through initiatives like AMOK (Akademiet for Moderne dans Og Klassisk ballet), which offers both professional foundational dance training and engaging extracurricular programs for youth. Moreover, she has nurtured KOMA Ballet, a dynamic youth company that stages culturally rich productions—such as “The Nutcracker” in collaboration with international artists and Odense Symfoniorkester.
Inge’s impact extends beyond structural and artistic guidance—she embodies the steady, creative pillar that enables these spaces to flourish. In recognition of her contributions, she received the title of Årets Odenseaner (Odense Citizen of the Year) in 2020—marking the first time the award was ever bestowed.

Caroline Rodrigues er født og opvokset i Brasilien.

Hun er som danser og koreograf anerkendt i både Syd Amerika og Europa, og har danset med mange estimerede kompagnier så som: Ballet Jovem Minas Gerais, JundiaÍ Municipal Dance Company, Holstebro Dance Company.

Claire is canadian and joins the 25/26 cast after international seasons, and has accumulated experience with Johan Inger, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, among others!
Ea was an intern at KOMA , and debuted as a dancer with the Company in the main role of Clara in THE NUTCRACKER | 2024
Ida has been an important core part of the cast. In the last season she was with Odense Teater as an in-house dancer in their new production, representing KOMA.
Lærke is a product of the house, formed by the Royal Ballet School and DGU, and has accumulated international experience, having danced in works signed by Ohad Naharin, Akram Khan and among others.
Lærke has been part of the cast for more than three seasons, and has featured in leading roles.
Foteini is our in-house guest for the Nutcracker season, and was selected for our scholarship program in Greece.

Max was awarded Best Dancer at what is recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest dance festival in 2017!
