ANDERSEN FOREVER

We celebrate the power of creation and look at death through the reconciling lens of fairy tales and art, on a journey through the H.C. Andersen Garden at H.C. Andersen Hus

'just living isn't enough'

An attempt to hold on to the thin thread that tries to comfort us in this shared experience — KOMA presents a new dance piece featuring prominent artists and an original soundtrack. Inspired by quotes where Hans Christian Andersen reflects not only on the absolute mystery of death, but on what is essential in being alive: "But just living isn't enough," he said. "To live you must have sunshine and freedom and a little flower to love!" — here a poetic journey through the mists of the finite in search of the infinite. In this work we move across artistic disciplines, weaving dance, music, and literature into a quiet tribute: to what endures, to what cannot be lost sight of while we are still here. To all we move in hope never to forget, 'longing to forever exist in the memory of others'.

KOMA Season 25/26

Believing that young artists inject vitality and innovation into the Dance Scene, KOMA opens the 2025/2026 season in the heart of Odense, with the performance at H.C. Andersen Hus.
The season advances in the desire to connect. Connect through diversity, generations, cultures and artists.

The new project: BROER.BRIDGES.PONTES marks the first of two chapters in KOMA BALLET's 2025/2026 Season, supported by the Odense Kommune, named: Artistic Development Initiative in Odense.

In this opening chapter, the initiative seeks to offer the municipal community a unique evening that celebrates cultural diversity, talented dancers, and a rich variety of dance repertoire, creating opportunities for dialogue and building connections.

The performance is produced in collaboration with students from SDMK – Southern Danish Academy of Music and KOMA Ballet, with Odense Flower Festival and H.C. Andersen Festivals are collaborating partners.
